DoCTIS Project Initiates Clinical Trial Validation with Kick-Off of WP8

On December 5th, the DoCTIS project marked a significant milestone with the start of Work Package 8 (WP8), the work package devoted to providing proof of concept of combination therapies in IMIDs. The event took place at the IMIDomics facilities in Barcelona. Led by Prof Ernest Choy and his team from the University of Cardiff, WP8 aims to undertake the clinical trial validation of candidate combinatorial therapies identified in preceding work packages.

The meeting, attended by representatives from the University of Cardiff, CNAG, Vall Hebron Research Institute (coordinators of the project), and IMIDomics, set the basis of the DoCTIS clinical trial, which will start during 2024. During the discussions, aspects related to the study design, the recruitment of patients and the administration of therapies were discussed, ultimately building a first plan for its implementation. This planning will be subsequently subject to approval at the upcoming General Assembly of the project.

With the kick-off of WP8, the DoCTIS project moves a step closer to translating its research findings into practical applications in the health sector. The clinical trial validation process holds immense promise for the development of novel combinatorial therapies, offering hope for millions of IMID patients worldwide, looking for a better, more efficacious therapy.

The DoCTIS project has received funding from the European Union’s H2020 reearch and innovation program under grant agreement 848028.
