A DocTIS study to be presented at the largest German-speaking congress for Gastroenterology

Viszeralmedizin 2025, the world’s largest German-speaking congress for gastroenterology, visceral surgery, and interdisciplinary endoscopy, will take place in Leipzig, Germany, from September 15 to 20, 2025. The event is jointly organized by the German Society for Gastroenterology, Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (DGVS) and the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery (DGAV) and will mark the 20th edition of the congress.
Among the key highlights of the scientific program is a presentation by Professor Britta Siegmund, Principal Investigator of the DocTIS project at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Director of the Department of Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases and Rheumatology at the same institution. She will present the study titled “DocTIS: A Single-Cell RNA-seq Atlas of Drug Response to Targeted Therapies in Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Diseases”.
This innovative research, developed by the DocTIS Consortium in collaboration with a large network of hospitals in Spain (IMID Consortium), introduces a single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) atlas that offers an unprecedented resource for understanding drug response and disease heterogeneity across a range of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs).
Professor Siegmund’s presentation will take place on Friday, September 19, during the “Immunology Meets IBD” session in Conference Hall 10 at the Congress Center Leipzig, with an estimated time slot around 15:05 CEST.
This year, Viszeralmedizin will follow a hybrid format, beginning with an online segment from September 15–16, followed by the in-person component in Leipzig from September 17–20. The congress is expected to attract up to 5,000 participants, including medical professionals in gastroenterology, visceral surgery, interdisciplinary internal medicine, as well as researchers, industry experts, and advanced practitioners.
